The University of Geneva has to deal with high volumes of orders for course handouts several times a year. Until now, these orders were placed manually with the University’s own Reprographics office.
In other words, students had to go to the store to place their orders, and the order waiting time could be as long as 2 days.
To address these concerns about delays and inconvenience for students wanting to get their courses, Digital Turn with Webgenève offered to respond to the University of Geneva’s call for tenders by proposing an online ordering system.
The student now has several options for finding handouts. They can search the site using the subject headings at the top of the site, and after choosing a subject, they will come across the category with all the handouts for the semester. He can also refine his search by choosing sub-categories, which helps him find his handouts more quickly.
They can also conduct searches using keywords, thanks to the site’s powerful integrated search engine. Finally, students can search for courses by faculty name, course, semester, professor, title and course number.
In addition, students can print out their own custom orders by clicking on the “print PDF document” button at the bottom of the page.
What’s more, our digital and web agency in Geneva, has adapted and re-configured custom modules for the University of Geneva, so that students can see the progress of their order as they select documents, and can select the type of finish they prefer for their handouts.
All these elements of the site created by Digital Turn with Webgenève on behalf of the University of Geneva were inspired by the latter’s graphic charter. The site is also highly secure, thanks to high-performance encryption systems. Indeed, the Digital Turn team has gone to great lengths to optimize these safety criteria.
The site itself is available in both French and English, and operates through an ordering system whereby students receive a notification with a barcode when their order is ready, and then simply pick it up.
What’s more, the entire system is computerized, even at withdrawal level. In other words, once the order has been placed on the site, the student can go to the university with his or her phone and simply scan the barcode he or she has received beforehand, and pick up the order.
It also validates his order in terms of inventory management.
Digital Turn with Webgenève has developed a powerful inventory management system which again enables the Reprographics system to optimize its time enormously.
This online ordering system has provided the University of Geneva with speedy delivery, efficient organization that benefits both the university and its students, optimized searches and easy ordering thanks to detailed, deductive ergonomics.
